Root Canal Melbourne VIC
Why Would I Require Root Canal Treatment?
A tooth that has become badly infected may require root canal treatment to save it from extraction. Root canal treatment or therapy is necessary when the very central part of the tooth has become infected and inflamed. By removing this part of the tooth, called the pulp, we can clean out the tooth, restoring it with a filling or crown.
How Effective is Root Canal Treatment?
Treatment can be highly effective and should feel little different to having a filling. Our dentists are very experienced in root canal treatment and you’ll find we are extremely gentle while ensuring treatment is of the very highest quality available anywhere today. St Vincent’s Dental Centre takes every possible precaution when planning and carrying out root canal treatment to make sure it is a success.
How Will I Know If I Need Root Canal Treatment?
If a tooth develops a dull ache or is painful when you bite down on it then it’s possible it could be infected. Other symptoms include noticing the gum around the tooth has become red or puffy and there could even be a small pimple developing on the gum tissue. If you think you may have an infected tooth, please contact St Vincent’s Dental Centre as root canal treatment is generally more successful when carried out in a timely manner. We can soon diagnose an infected tooth and will provide high-quality treatment to relieve discomfort and pain and to save the tooth.
We know some people are nervous about this treatment, but we’d like to reassure you that with proper care we can help to eliminate these fears. Afterwards you will find your tooth feels much more comfortable. For more information, please speak to our friendly dental team on (03) 9419 7022. Also known as false teeth, can be either complete, where all the teeth are missing or partial, when some teeth remain. Dentures are not as effective as dental implants but more affordable.
Explore MoreTMD & Bruxism
Bruxism is the technical term for clenching and grinding, a subconscious condition that often occurs nocturnally. As a result, patients may be unaware they have this habit until they begin to experience symptoms, receive complaints from sleeping partners as grinding can be noisy, or it is diagnosed by a dentist.
Explore MoreDental Fillings
The fillings used in our practice are colour coded to your natural teeth so that any cavities we restore are totally unnoticeable.
Explore MoreExtractions
The dentists here at SV Dental Centre regard tooth extraction as being the last resort but sometimes it can be the best option. This may be the case if the tooth is too badly damaged, for example if it has fractured right down through the tooth root, or where it is so badly infected that we need to remove it to clear up the infection.
