Dr Harris Schlen is our principal dentist at St Vincent’s Dental Centre and obtained a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science at Monash University before going on to complete a bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland. Dr Harry Schlen is a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Department of Medicine, St Vincent’s Hospital.
Harry has more than twenty years’ experience in general dentistry and in implant dentistry and went into private practice in 1988. After providing many years of informal service to St Vincent’s Private and Public hospital patients, Harry was appointed as consultant dentist in 2003. A kind and compassionate dentist, St Vincent’s Dental Centre is also a testimony to Harry’s interest in technology. His investment in state-of-the-art equipment enables the centre to provide the highest standard of care, elevating patient experiences.
Dr Galina Vinokurov joined St Vincent’s Dental Centre in 2009 and her warm personality and dedication to providing excellent dental care soon gained her the loyalty of patients. Galina trained at the University of Melbourne and has gained extensive experience in all aspects of general dentistry under the mentorship and guidance of Dr Schlen. Galina is particularly talented in using CADCAM design software to create beautiful yet functional crowns in just one appointment. Galina is also interested in root canal and endodontic therapy and has completed the Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry.
Dr Michelle McIntosh graduated with her dentist degree with Honours from the University of Melbourne. She spent two years working as an oral surgery resident in hospitals where she gained extensive experience in oral surgery and implant placement. An enthusiastic and dedicated dentist, Michelle has a keen interest in surgery but enjoys all aspects of dentistry. Always keen to increase her knowledge, Michelle is currently enrolled in a Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry.
Dr Leighton Phu completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours at the University of Melbourne and before joining St Vincent’s he worked in rural Victoria, gaining invaluable experience in complex full mouth rehabilitations. Dr Leighton is a very gentle and compassionate dentist who finds it particularly rewarding when he is able to help patients overcome anxiety with dental treatment. He is also loves gadgets and the latest technology and very much enjoys using the state-of-the-art equipment in St Vincent’s Dental Centre to provide the best possible care for his patients.
As well as working at St Vincent’s, Leighton is a preclinical supervisor for undergraduate dental students at the University of Melbourne. He also finds the time to volunteer, providing dental care for remote communities in Vietnam and closer to home in Alice Springs and serves on several committees of the Australian Dental Association.
