Most people will need at least one or two tooth fillings and here at SV Dental Centre, we can repair your tooth using the most advanced materials.
What is a Tooth Filling?
A tooth filling will fill a cavity in your tooth caused by trauma or disease. Once the filling is in place, your tooth will be stronger so you can eat without fear of it crumbling or cracking and it will look very natural.
What are the Types of tooth Fillings?
We are an amalgam-free dental practice so our fillings are made from either tooth coloured composite resin or from porcelain. Composite resin is ideal for filling small to medium-sized cavities but porcelain is stronger and more durable. This material is suitable for filling larger cavities in the back teeth that are used for chewing food.
Does it Hurt to Get a Filling?
Our dental team will take great care to ensure your filling does not hurt. Your tooth will be properly numbed before treatment begins so you should not experience any discomfort. Once the local anaesthetic has worn off, you might notice a little sensitivity in the tooth which should soon subside as the tooth settles down.
How Long Does a Tooth Filling Last?
Composite resin fillings will last for several years before they need replacing. Porcelain fillings are stronger and although they do cost a little more, they should last for many years. We closely monitor the condition of all restorations so that when your filling does begin to show signs of wear, we can replace it ensuring your tooth is properly protected.
