Most of us are taught to brush and floss as children and over the years technique can fall by the wayside. Oral hygiene education is a nice and very effective way to make sure you gain maximum benefit from every minute you spend looking after your teeth and gums. Our oral therapist can work with you to make sure you don’t miss out any critical areas when brushing and flossing. We can also suggest the best tools to use, particularly in regards to flossing.
We have found that often a quick demonstration on how to floss more effectively can be extremely helpful. A common mistake is to use too short a length of dental floss as ideally you need a length of around 30 cm so you can use a fresh section in between each tooth. Flossing can be tricky for anyone with limited dexterity and some people simply cannot get on with this technique. There are alternative tools that can be used and which can be extremely effective. These include interdental brushes and water or air flossers. We can also offer advice on brushing techniques, including the best type of brush to use.
Everyone here is very easy to talk to and please remember we love educating everyone who visits us about dental health.
