Tooth Coloured Restorations (fillings)

In our practice, all restorations are tooth coloured. Tooth coloured restorations are designed to blend in with the existing teeth to give excellent functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Today, modern advances in dental materials have led to the dominance of tooth coloured restorations. The development of bonding technology and advanced materials design means that tooth coloured restorations now have a better prognosis than conventional amalgam restorations.

Existing Amalgam Restorations

While we no longer restore teeth using amalgam restorations, if you have existing amalgam restorations, they do not necessarily have to be removed. Amalgam restorations have proven over many years and millions of people worldwide to be a safe and effective treatment modality.

All treatments including tooth coloured and amalgam restorations have a finite life span and should be checked at regular dental visits. This is done both by radiographic examination and physical examination to determine whether restorations are sound, free of recurrent decay, and functioning as required to maintain good oral health.
